Cheerleading Coach Fired for Posing in Playboy

April 23, 2009- A California High School cheerleading coach was fired apparently for posing for Playboy.  Carlie Beck a.k.a. Carlie Christine, a playboy model, posed nude for Playboy’s website as a “Cyber Girl of the Week.”  Prior to the published pictures, Beck was offered a coaching job at Casa Roble High School in Orangevale, California.

“I didn’t know I was fired until I was sitting at home and started getting texts.  The media was at the school wanting to know how I felt about getting fired,” Beck told Good Morning America.  “Later someone from the school district called and said, ‘You’ve been fired.  Your services are no longer needed.’

The San Juan Unified School District fired Beck just days after parents of a cheerleader printed out the Playboy pictures and brought them to a meeting with a principal.

Beck said, “The school district never told me why I was fired, however there is a strong correlation with the timing of when the parents brought the pictures in and when I was released.”

The whistle-blowing parents, Scott and Heather Geniella, said on the “Today Show” that they approached the administration for moral reasons.  But some parents are questioning the Geniellas’ motives.

“This is a leader of young women,” Scott Geniella said. “They want to hold the children to a very high standard.  These cheerleaders are not allowed to have racy pictures on MySpace.  There’s a lot of things they’re not able to do, or shouldn’t.”

According to parent Richard Spralding, “Jealousy issues or whatever between parents and other students and stuff like that with Carlie, herself, brought this all on.”

Beck’s pictures and firing came as a surprise to many of the cheerleaders and their parents.

“It’s kind of shocking because I had no ideas that she would do something like that,” cheer parent Susan Calhoon told KXTV. “She did a good job with the girls.  I never heard anyone complain.”

Beck said she took the firing hard. In her own words, “I really learned to love these girls as well as their parents, and I definitely appreciate all of the support that I have been shown.”

Beauty Break-Ins on the Rise?

Allure.com Daily Beauty Report

April 08, 2009 We realize times might be a little tough right now, but the lengths some people are willing to go to get their hands on products is out of control. On Friday, a man tried to walk out of a German supermarket with 68 tubes of toothpaste in his clothes. In an (obviously) unrelated incident, police are investigating the disappearance of 74 tubes of Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lip gloss that went missing on Sunday from a mall in Nanuet, N.Y. Considering it takes a month to go through one tube of either product, we want to know what they were planning to do with all that stuff!!! (And don't say ebay—we can't fathom someone turning to the internet for their toothpaste needs.)

Killer Weight Loss App

April 08, 2009 There's a brand-new way good old Apple can help you shape up. FitnessBuilder, an app for iPhones and iPod Touch, is kind of like the Polly Pocket edition of a personal trainer. There are a zillion apps out there, but unlike other fitness ones we checked out that offer creepy pictures of Sims-like characters doing push-ups, or estimate calories burnt with weird algorithms, FitnessBuilder comes with ready-made workouts, images, and videos for every situation. Have twenty minutes and a yoga ball? You're in luck. Want to get toned in three days? Go for Body Building Three-Day. At $19.99, it's a little pricier than some other applications, but well worth it—and a lot better than buying five games.

Domino's Employees Facing Arrest

Two fired Domino’s Pizza workers are facing arrest after recent YouTube videos. The North Carolina employees videotaped themselves passing gas on salami and stuffing cheese up their nostrils.  The foul fixings were then used in the food.

The pizza delivery giant says it was stunned to see the videos posted on YouTube. The videos were filmed at the franchise in Conover, North Carolina. The pair, who call themselves Michael and Kristy were quickly terminated by the corporation.  Domino’s has apologized for the actions of the individuals.

Betty Smith, a Domino’s spokeswoman said, “Domino’s is profoundly sorry for this awful incident. The chain will ensure an act like this will never happen again.”

The chain has gone a step further, with the affected North Carolina franchise filing a criminal complaint against the ex-employees and police issuing a felony warrant for their arrest, according to the BBC.

A Domino’s employee, Randy Jones, commented on the videos. “The employees involved in the videos viewed them as a prank and the food was never delivered.”

The company said the videos overshadowed "the hard work performed by the 125,000 men and women working for Domino's" in the US and around the world.
